The department of Accounting provides Master of Science in Finance and Investment in Oil and Gas, and Bachelor of Science in Accounting in Oil Company degree programs.
Finance and Investment in Oil and Gas
The international position of oil, gas, and petrochemical industries and their strategic role in the present economic life of Iran have posed serious responsibilities based on the economic and social systems of the Iranian society to accountants and financial managers. Nowadays, oil industry needs for skilled and experienced financial managers and researchers who are able to analyze and make proper decisions when facing with financing and resource management problems.
Along with the operationalization of the vision, mission and strategies of the country’s oil, gas and petrochemical industries, it is required to train powerful personnel who are able to perform their determined functions and is excellent in financial sciences and processes concerning the oil, gas, and petrochemical fields. Thus, it is essential to create a specialized course in finance and investment in oil and gas for training such human resources.
The main objective of providing this course is to educate financial management students and to prepare skilled human resources for the professional financial management posts and their sub-categories such as finance, contract issues and financial controls, investment management, financial and economic studies and budget in commercial, industrial and governmental organizations, particularly in oil, gas and petro-chemistry.
The maximum duration of this program is 2.5 years. It normally involves 3 theoretical courses and then is followed by a dissertation that is carried out in a maximum of 2 semesters. The total number of 32 credits are offered for MSc students of Financing and Investment in Oil and Gas including the courses prerequisite for module (assigned based on department’s decision), main courses (16 credits), specialized courses (credits), elective courses (4 credits) and dissertation (6 credits).
Accounting in Oil Company
The scope of this course is to train accounting and financial operation experts required in the oil & gas industries. The course includes some credits so that distinct it from the general course of accounting in other universities: 140 credits are offered to BS students of Accounting which includes general courses (21 credits), basic courses (44 credits), specialized courses (61 credits) and also fourteen courses related to oil & Gas industries.
